El fallecimiento del arquero aurinegro y de la selecci\u00f3n sacudi\u00f3 al deporte oriental. <a title=\"Roberto Chery\" href=\"https:\/\/www.padreydecano.com\/cms\/idolos\/roberto-chery\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roberto Chery<\/a>, a quien apodaban \u201cEl Poeta\u201d, realiz\u00f3 una arriesgada intervenci\u00f3n en el partido contra Chile que le produjo una hernia. Fue internado, pero debido a un estrangulamiento y complicaciones dej\u00f3 de existir en la cuidad carioca.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Uruguay, ya terminada su participaci\u00f3n en el certamen y ante el tremendo dolor provocado por el acontecimiento, resolvi\u00f3 no jugar con los brasile\u00f1os su tradicional encuentro por la Copa R\u00edo Branco.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ante la situaci\u00f3n planteada, Argentina se ofreci\u00f3 a representar a los tradicionales adversarios y enfrentar a Brasil. La Confederaci\u00f3n Sudamericana instituy\u00f3 el Trofeo \u201cRoberto Chery\u201d y el partido se realiz\u00f3 el 1 de junio. <strong>Los vecinos del R\u00edo de la Plata ingresaron a la cancha vistiendo la camiseta uruguaya y los brasile\u00f1os la de Pe\u00f1arol. El resultado del cotejo fue un empate en tres tantos y la recaudaci\u00f3n se destin\u00f3 a la familia del fallecido<\/strong> (\u2026).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eran otros tiempos y otros hombres. La manera de actuar era diferente y por encima de la rivalidad deportiva exist\u00edan gestos de esta naturaleza que hac\u00edan grandes a los protagonistas. Fue la \u00e9poca rom\u00e1ntica del f\u00fatbol, regida por determinados c\u00f3digos que fueron cambiando con el correr de los a\u00f1os.
